How it all started...
In 1933, a few biblical-minded people that were a part of the small black community, in what would come to be known as Fort Walton Beach, started Bible classes in the afternoon in their individual homes. As the area grew, believers saw the need for a building where they could gather together for worship. In 1938 the first church for the black community was organized and called The Colored Community Church. Even then the believers understood the importance of community and the newly organized church served as the first school for black children in the community. In 1946 the church's name was changed to Beulah First Baptist Church.
Beulah First Baptist Church, affectionately known as BFB, is the largest and oldest African-American church in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Over the years BFB has grown and been an integral part of the local community and surrounding areas. Committed to community, outreach, redemption, and education, Beulah established free programs for distributing bread to needy families, summer reading contests, and began contributing consistently to the foreign mission board of the National Baptist Convention.

Expanding the vision...
Realizing the importance of giving the youth a strong foundation to build upon, BFB began Children's Church during the Sunday morning worship service. The Youth Ministry also implemented Youth Bible Study as a part of the regular Wednesday night Bible study what was being held for the adults.
BFB also recognized the need to provide housing for low to moderate income families which lead to the start of The McGriff Community Development and Services. As a result, The Beulah Land Townhomes were built across the street from the church. To further those efforts, in 1994 Beulah's Helping Hand House opened to serve as an outreach ministry for the community.

Where we are headed...
Under the leadership of our current Pastor, Felix L. Cole, Beulah First Baptist continues to stand as a beacon of hope and compassion within the community. With a legacy deeply rooted in being the Community church, we will embrace the rich diversity of the Emerald Coast, understanding that strength lies in unity. Our commitment to our C.O.R.E values—Community, Outreach, Redemption, and Education—serves as the cornerstone of our mission to uplift and empower those we serve.
In our pursuit of embodying these values, we have embarked on an ambitious journey to extend our ministry to those most vulnerable in society. Recognizing the pressing issue of homelessness, we are providing sustenance, and support to individuals and families without homes. Through collaborative efforts with local organizations and dedicated volunteers, we strive to offer a sanctuary of warmth and compassion, embodying the true essence of community.
Moreover, we remain steadfast in our Outreach endeavors, extending a hand of welcome and guidance to those who may feel lost or disconnected. Through our various programs and initiatives, we will not only meet immediate needs but also nurture spiritual growth and renewal. Through new counseling, support groups, and partnerships, we endeavor to be a source of solace and transformation for all who seek the Lord.
Building upon our commitment to Education, we envision the expansion of Beulah Christian Academy (BCA) into a comprehensive K-8 Christian School and Child Development Center. By providing a holistic approach to education, we aim to cultivate minds, hearts, and spirits, equipping our students with the tools they need to thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. Furthermore, we aspire to offer opportunities for adult education, including GED attainment and college classes, thereby empowering individuals to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
With God on our side, Beulah First Baptist remains steadfast in its dedication to serving as a catalyst for positive change within our community. As we continue to build upon our legacy of compassion, inclusion, and faith, we invite all who share in our vision to join us as we Grow Together and Grow In Amazing Things.
