HEALTH AND WELLNESS MINISTRY
During the month of January, we would like to focus on good nutrition and healthy eating in daily life. There are many benefits of healthy eating. It may help you live longer, keeps skin, teeth, and eyes healthy, supports muscles, boosts immunity and strengthens bones. We also know that healthy eating lowers the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers. Healthy eating helps us achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Fasting is abstaining from food for a spiritual purpose. In the Old Testament, the word “fast” was derived from the Hebrew term tsom, which refers to the practice of self-denial. In the New Testament, the word “fast” is derived from the Greek word nesteia, which also refers to self-denial. Fasting allows your spiritual nature to commune directly with the heavenly Father without distractions or disturbances. The Daniel Fast is a biblically based partial fast. Fasting without prayer is just a DIET. While some say The Daniel Fast can help prevent and reverse chronic diseases, promote optimal health, and increase longevity, it is NOT necessary for a healthy lifestyle. If you're interested in following The Daniel Fast and you have certain medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and chronic kidney disease, or if you are taking certain medications you should talk with your health care provider to make sure it is right for you. Throughout the month, please visit the Church mall area for educational material regarding healthy nutrition.
