HEALTHCARE MINISTRY

February is American Heart Month. Throughout the month we intend to help you identify your individual risk factors for heart disease and learn about things you can do to change your risks. There is a lot you can do to protect your heart. For starters, ask your doctor about your blood pressure, cholesterol and A1C. Reduce the sodium, and increase the fruits, vegetables and whole grains in your diet. Be physically active and maintain a healthy weight. Don’t smoke, manage your stress and keep your diabetes under control. Black Americans have the highest incidence of cardiac arrest outside of the hospital and are significantly less likely to survive. Only 46% of people who suffer from cardiac arrest receive CPR from a bystander. CPR is 41% less likely if the person is Black or Hispanic. More than 23,000 children experience cardiac arrest outside of the hospital each year. 40% are related to sports and nearly 20% are infants. Cardiac arrest accounts for 10-15% of sudden unexpected infant deaths. CPR can save lives. Make a difference! Throughout this month you will have the opportunity to sign up for our annual CPR Training Class. The class will take place right here at Beulah First Baptist Church!
