Prayer Call: Prayer for Others
Good Morning, BFB!
This is a day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Today’s scripture focus: “Paul, Silas and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring. All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.” -2 Thessalonians 1:1-5 NIV
Paul is praying for the Thessalonians in letter. In his investigation in finding out what they have been doing since his first letter. He found out that even though they had been under persecution, they had continued to follow God. Even though they were following God, they had become complacent in their doing because Jesus was coming back but Paul wanted them to now that God doesn't want us to be complacent. We have to keep doing the work.
In writing to the Thessalonians, Paul was joined by Silas and Timothy. Grace and favor is a Christian application of communication and were common greetings of great wishes. Peace is a traditional Jewish greeting. Paul's address to the Thessalonians with gratitude shows that he considers the people of God more important than anything else in creation. He was thankful for the growing faith in love of the Thessalonian belief. Understanding that they were under persecution, they were still keeping the faith.
Even under persecution they were sticking together. When one needed something, the next one would help out and vice versa. This is what Christ wants us to do. If we can help someone, we should help. Instead of judging or casting judgment, as the world does, as followers and examples of Christ we should be extending a hand up.
Lifting someone up when you know someone is going through troubles is a great way to let them know that Christ is still on the throne and nothing they are going through goes unseen. This is what God is calling us to do for one another and those around us.
When we serve Christ, we are going to suffer and go through some things while on the battlefield for the Lord. Suffering isn’t always physical, it’s emotional, mental, and spiritual. But regardless of what comes up against us, we have to keep the faith, looking past our own situations and trying to fix them ourselves. We have to put Christ in the forefront. We have to allow God to lead us and guide us because as long as we follow Him, He will take care of us.
As we go through this week, let us be good stewards of one another. Let us continually pray for one another, lift one another up, and extend a helping hand when and where we can.
