Using our gifts, talents, & resources to glorify God & serve His kingdom.

Using our gifts, talents, & resources to glorify God & serve His kingdom.
Scriptures: Psalm 46:10, Isaiah 30:21
Reflection: In the stillness, we can hear God’s voice more clearly and receive His direction for our lives.
Expanded Focus
Listening is foundational to our relationship with God and our ability to contribute meaningfully to His kingdom. Psalm 46:10 calls us to “be still and know that I am God,” reminding us that stillness is not just physical but an intentional quieting of the mind and heart to focus on His presence. Isaiah 30:21 assures us that when we listen, we will hear God’s guidance: “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” These scriptures emphasize that listening positions us to discern God’s will and align our steps with His purpose.
In a world filled with constant distractions, the practice of listening requires discipline and intentionality. It is easy to fill our time with noise—tasks, notifications, conversations, and worries—but making space to truly listen allows us to connect deeply with God. Listening is not passive; it is an active pursuit of God’s voice through His Word, prayer, and reflection. It is in these moments of stillness that we receive clarity, direction, and encouragement for the journey ahead.
Listening is also a practice that extends to others. As members of the body of Christ, we are called to bear one another’s burdens and celebrate one another’s joys. By listening to the needs, concerns, and hopes of those around us, we strengthen relationships and grow in compassion and understanding. Listening creates space for others to feel valued and supported, fostering unity and trust within the church and community.
Listening is also foundational to spiritual growth. Often, we approach God with a list of requests or concerns, but listening invites us to pause and hear His heart. Through Scripture, prayer, and reflection, we gain insight into His plans and purposes. Sometimes, the answer is immediate; other times, it comes through the journey of waiting and trusting. In both cases, listening prepares us to act in alignment with His will.
Contributing through listening helps us grow with one another by aligning our actions with God’s will, fostering clarity in our mission, and cultivating spiritual growth through obedience and attentiveness to His voice.
