Prayer Call: Reflections on Rebuilding
Good Morning, BFB!
This is a day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Today was a reflection on what I've gleaned from our series Brick by Brick.
Our Pastor has been taking us through the book of Ezra and I’ve put myself in the story from the aspect of rebuilding the temple we worship and what comes along with that but what I failed to do was face the rebuilding of me and those around me that are temples within that temple.
“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.” - 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 NIV
I had to return myself to God because I destroyed God’s temple. God destroyed me. He had to tear down everything that I built. God has been rebuilding me since I gave Him my total yes. He laid a new foundation in me and began rebuilding. I met Him with opposition and the work stopped. Somewhere in that period of not working a word was spoken, a prayer was prayed, some connections were made, and the rebuilding has started again. He’s rebuilding this temple to His standard…not mine, not yours, BUT HIS.
“Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.” This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the Lord.” -Haggai 1:5-8 NIV
Now I have got to do the work. I’ve got to go to Him - that sacred place He has prepared for me - to gather the resources He’s provided. Use those resources to build HIS HOUSE so that He is pleased, where He will be honored.
Continue to rebuild me. Thank you for allowing me to build again.
“Facing opposition should not come as a surprise when we seek to serve and honor God. Satan likes nothing better than to foul up anything we are doing that furthers God’s plans. What setback has discouraged you from following God’s will? It’s important to keep going. Continuing to work despite roadblocks now will make it easier next time. It will also give you the tools to help someone else in the same situation. Don’t give up! Your endurance through tough times may encourage someone else to keep going.” [Restoration: A Study on the Book of Ezra - Thomas Road Baptist Church]
