Prayer Call: Divine Reversal
Hello BFB Family & Friends!
This week, we’re returning to the Book of Esther, continuing from our devotional time last night and this morning. Today, our focus is on just one verse—Esther 6:1—but this single moment carries a powerful message about how God can turn things around in our lives.
How many of us know that God specializes in divine reversals? He has a way of stepping in and shifting situations when we least expect it.
Scripture Focus: Esther 6:1 (NIV)

“That night the king could not sleep; so he ordered the book of the chronicles, the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him.”
When It Feels Like the Odds Are Against You
There are moments in life when we feel like things may be stacked against us. It feels like the odds aren’t in our favor. Maybe you’ve been praying, serving faithfully, showing up, but nothing seems to shift. It can feel unfair. Many people right now might relate to that feeling—those affected by job changes, shutdowns, or personal setbacks. But the story of Esther reminds us of a simple, steady truth:
Even when we can’t trace His hand, we can trust His heart. He’s arranging the puzzle pieces of our lives, working behind the scenes in ways we can’t always see.
At this point in the story of Esther, Haman has already plotted against Esther's people, in particular against Mordecai. He was trying to have them destroyed. And isn't is just like God to move behind the scenes, at night when one should be sleeping - but for some reason, the tossing and turning is prevailing.
When we open Esther chapter 6, we read: “That night the king could not sleep.” No angel appeared. No thunder. No earthquake. Just a sleepless night. Yet that ordinary moment became the setup for a divine reversal. When God sets things up and He's starting to turn things around for us, this part of Esther reveals two truths for us that we have to be careful not to overlook.
God is never absent in our lives, even when He feels silent.

God Works Through the Ordinary
The king’s insomnia led him to review the royal records, where he was reminded of Mordecai’s long-forgotten act of faithfulness. That one restless night changed the course of the story.
Sometimes we wait for the spectacular—a sign, a miracle, a loud confirmation. But God - the same God who opened the Red Sea, who has given sight to the blind, who has done all of these miraculous things - often works quietly through ordinary moments:
Don’t mistake God's silence for God's stillness. When nothing seems to be happening, I argue that God is always working behind the scenes to turn the pages of our story. The ordinary may just be the setting for your extraordinary turnaround.

- A delay in your day
- A chance conversation
- A forgotten name
- Even a restless night

God Honors the Righteous in His Time
As we read on, we see that Mordecai’s faithfulness seems to have gone unnoticed for years. Mordecai overheard the plot to assassinate the king. He revealed this information and saved the king’s life, but no one had rewarded him—until now. Through that sleepless night, God brought Mordecai’s name back into remembrance. What seemed forgotten was simply being reserved for the right time.
Maybe you’ve been consistent—serving, giving, showing up—and it feels like no one sees it. It may seem like our righteousness or our faithfulness is going unrewarded. But remember this:
He never forgets your faithfulness. He may delay, but He never denies. Sometimes he places us in a waiting space so that He can arrange the rest of the things in our lives to ensure that once He elevates us, we have the grace and faithfulness to keep us where He has us. His timing is perfect, and when the setup is complete, He will elevate you at the right moment.
So even when it feels like it doesn't matter, show up. God rewards our consistency and our faithfulness. Nothing is ever wasted in God's economy.
As you go through this week, remember that even when things seem uncertain, God is orchestrating a divine reversal. What looks delayed or denied might just be part of His setup for something greater. Stay faithful. Keep showing up. Trust that heaven sees you—and that God will turn it around for our good, for His glory and for His purpose.
Amen and Amen.

God keeps better records than anyone here on earth.
